Mary Poppins

Unfortunately The French Market was closed Sunday, when we ventured back into Knoxville to see the traveling production of the Broadway musical Mary Poppins.  That was a bummer.  I sure would have loved a bit of yumminess before the show.

We discovered a fabulous outdoor market area filled with boutiques, galleries and restaurants.  Lilah found inspiration in a black dress in a shop window.  When we are traveling, we love to discover new, eclectic places and people.  We tend to stay off highways and travel the back roads.  We try to say yes as often as possible and not limit ourselves to a set schedule.  We eat local and support local business.  I loved that these shops were not part of large chains, but independent owners catering to their local clientele.  We would have liked to spend more time here, but the show was about to begin.

The Tennessee Theater is a beautiful venue that recently underwent a major renovation.  The colors and textures of the walls and ceilings were stunning.  Unfortunately photography was not allowed so we had to sneak these pictures.  The show, like the theater, was fabulous and we all enjoyed it very much.  I found that I liked it far more than the movie, which I dreaded every time my girls wanted to watch it.

This was a lovely night.  A perfect beginning to our week in TN.
